Graduates here leave education with qualifications and without the specific things employers screen for. Career Hacks is built around showing what you can do rather than describing it.
Code Fest
A hackathon that runs over several weeks. Screening, then take home challenges, then final interviews. We built it to look like a real hiring process, because for the strongest entrants that is what it turns into. Some have gone on to paid contracts building real software.
Workshops
Alongside the hackathon we run sessions on the dull but decisive parts of getting hired. CVs that survive a first pass, interview practice, and how to talk about work you have actually done.
Why a youth foundation runs this
Employment is not separate from the rest of our work. A family situation changes when someone in it gets a decent job.
