Menstrual Hygiene Management
Awareness sessions in schools, safe sanitary products, cycle rallies and marathons, all aimed at making menstrual health something people will actually talk about.
We have been working on menstrual health since the early days of the foundation. The problem is rarely that girls do not know anything. It is that nobody will discuss it, so they miss school, use whatever is to hand, and learn to be ashamed of something completely ordinary.
So we work on both halves of it. Getting safe products into hands, and the slower work of making the conversation normal.
What we do
- Awareness sessions in schools and communities
- Handing out safe sanitary products, including work with SafePad Bangladesh
- Cycle rallies and marathons, to put the subject somewhere public
- The Aparajita art exhibition, which tackles the taboo through work by young artists
Why we do it this way
Handing out products alone treats the symptom. Only talking about it changes nothing this month. Doing both takes longer and works better.
Support this programme
Donations go towards the materials and costs that volunteering alone cannot cover.
